Artist Statement

While having expressed through sculpture, performance, drawings, painting, photo/film documentation, and architecture, my oeuvre reflects some of my sustained thoughts gathered over the years. These thoughts manifest through my immediate experiences. My expression may vary in scale and medium, the process of “making” is integral, therapeutic and addictive to me.

For me, “devising” strategies such as “displacement” in life is important to make sense of my purpose as an artist and as a pedagogue. Since my arrival back to India, I found myself mesmerized and perplexed at the same time. This has led to my acquiring a certain stance, providing me with a unique perspective on extremities and polarities. I make a conscious effort to not bind my work within a particular way of making or materials and try that my expression remains ambiguous enough, in order to incite a two-way dialogue.
