Nitin Dutt was born and brought up in his hometown of Chandigarh. He earned his BFA in sculpture from Govt. College of Art, Chandigarh and MFA in Plastic Arts from Department of Plastic Arts, Faculty of Visual Arts, Banaras Hindu University. He received a fellowship in 2000 to pursue post graduation in sculpture from Michigan State University. In addition, he has also studied architecture from University of Toronto. On his return to India in 2010, he taught Visual Arts at School of Planning & Architecture, Chitkara University – Punjab for almost five years. At Present he teaches at the Department of Plastic Arts, Faculty of Visual Arts, Banaras Hindu University as Assistant Professor of Sculpture.
He has won awards constituted by Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi, Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi, AIFACS, and international accolade such as All University Excellence in Diversity Recognition Award (MSU), Graduate Students International Travel Grant, and Special College Research Abroad Money Fellowship. He has so far six solo exhibitions to his credit. He has exhibited in various group shows in India and North America and has been invited to attend various artist workshops, symposiums, camps, and conferences. His work is part of government at private collection in India and North America.
